In a context of growing interest in more environmentally friendly and responsible options, the textile sector is constantly looking for new and attractive alternatives to traditional materials.

One of them is bamboo, derived from the fibers of the plant of the same name, a species with curious properties that make it an option to take into account when equipping ourselves.
Cultivation
Bamboo is characterized by its rapid growth, between 5 and 20 centimeters per day, with some species growing almost one meter per day. In fact, it is one of the fastest in existence. It has a moderate water consumption compared to other crops and is more resistant to pests and diseases, which reduces the use of pesticides. In general, 20-25% of the canes in a forest or plantation can be harvested annually in a sustainable manner without decreasing the size of the plantation. The plant does not die after harvesting, each consists of several canes and each year new shoots grow from the mother plant. In addition, it has a high carbon dioxide absorption capacity. It is a good starting point.
This plant has been used historically in Asia for this and other purposes, but in recent years it has gained popularity in the textile industry for having properties as interesting as these:
- Texture: As soft or softer to the touch than cotton – comfortable garments.
- Breathability and moisture absorption: thanks to its structural characteristics, bamboo is highly breathable, has a high moisture absorption capacity and helps regulate temperature, which contributes to odor control – comfortable garments that are cool in the heat and warm in the cold.
- Antibacterial and antifungal properties: it has natural properties that make it resistant to bacteria and fungi – garments suitable for physical activity and delicate skins.
- Durability and strength: withstands washing and daily use without rapid wear and tear – long-lasting garments
- Sustainability and biodegradability: the crop’s own characteristics mean that it can be considered a renewable and environmentally friendly resource. In addition, it results in products that can decompose naturally without causing damage – environmentally friendly garments.
Natural fibers are, in general terms, more sustainable than synthetic fibers, and bamboo, in particular, has interesting advantages, but the truth is that the only really sustainable thing to do is to minimize consumption, repair and reuse. The industry is moving towards more sustainable and responsible processes through various innovative technologies and procedures, but much remains to be done. The fact that the fabrics have Oeko-tex Class 1 certification at least indicates that they have been properly evaluated and comply with applicable health and safety regulations.

Considering the combination of comfort, functionality and sustainability that this fabric offers, at Tran Tran we have found it to be an excellent choice for the manufacture of our T-shirts. We hope that with them you can enjoy even more your favorite practice.
